The Power of the Vitamin D

Winter is here and during this time of year, we get less sun.  It becomes a fight when the winter blues get to us and we need to stay healthy.  There is a way to beat it with the power of the Vitamin D!

As the sun hides behind the clouds, it’s crucial to understand the importance of this essential nutrient. 

Vitamin D can:

  • boost your mood
  • strengthen your immune system
  • support bone health
  • improve muscle function
  • enhance cognitive functions
  • regulate blood sugar levels
  • promote cardiovascular health
  • maintain healthy skin
  • help with weight management


Other than the sun, there are several foods that are good sources of Vitamin D. Some examples are

  • Salmon, tuna and mackerel
  • You can also find Vitamin D in fortified dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese
  • Egg yolks
  • Mushrooms
  • Fortified cereals
  • Supplements
