Silencing the inner critic is sometimes hard to accomplish. Self-doubt creeps in and we struggle with the negative self-talk; calling ourselves the most ridiculous names in the book. We think they’re just words and they doesn’t matter, but negative self-talk can actually have a significant impact on both of our bodies and immune system. When we constantly criticize ourselves or have negative thoughts, it can trigger a stress response that releases hormones like cortisol, which can suppress the immune system. It’s important to be kind to ourselves and practice positive self-talk for our overall well-being. And yes!!! The way you talk yourself has a great impact in your health!

When we experience stress, our body releases cortisol which is often referred to as the“stress hormone“

While cortisol serves important functions in the body, chronic stress can lead to an overproduction of cortisol which can have negative effects. It can disrupt sleep patterns, increase blood pressure, suppress the immune system, and contribute to weight gain, particularly around the abdominal area. So it’s essential to find healthy ways to manage stress and talk to ourselves.

Self-Care is Key!

  • Believe in yourself and your abilities.
  • You’re stronger than you think!
  • Set realistic goals and celebrate every milestone along the way.
  • Find workouts that you enjoy and make them part of your routine.
  • Surround yourself with supportive and like-minded individuals who lift you up.
  • Mix up your workouts to keep things exciting and prevent boredom.
  • Remember that progress takes time, so be patient with yourself.
  • Listen to your body and give yourself rest days when when needed.
  • Stay consistent, even on days when you don’t feel like it. You’ll thank yourself later!
  • Focus on how exercise makes you feel, both physically and mentally.
  • Celebrate your achievements, no matter how small they may seem.
