Handle Time Change Like a Pro

This weekend, we “fall back” as Daylight Saving Time ends. While gaining an extra hour of sleep sounds great, the shift can throw off your body clock, your workouts, and even your mood. At CrossFit Reincarnation, we’re all about helping you stay consistent and take care of your whole self, body, mind, and routine. Here are a few ways to handle the darker evenings and keep feeling your best.

1. Stick to Your Routine (Even if It’s Tempting to Skip)

Your body thrives on rhythm. Try to keep your normal sleep, meal, and workout schedule as close to consistent as possible. When your brain knows what to expect, your energy levels stabilize faster.
If you usually work out in the evenings, you might find it harder to get out the door once it’s dark. Set out your gym clothes early or schedule a buddy to meet you. Accountability is your best friend when motivation dips.

2. Get Morning Light

Natural light is the best signal to your internal clock. Step outside first thing in the morning, even for 5–10 minutes. Sunlight helps your body adjust to the time change, improves alertness, and can boost your mood throughout the day.

3. Prioritize Quality Sleep

With daylight shifting, your melatonin levels can get out of sync. Avoid screens 30 minutes before bed, keep your room cool and dark, and aim for 7–9 hours of rest. Recovery is just as important as your training. Strong bodies are built when we rest well.

4. Stay Active (Even on the Dark Days)

Shorter days can make it feel like hibernation season, but movement is medicine. Even a quick walk, stretching session, or light workout can lift your energy and combat that seasonal “blah” feeling. Your future self will thank you for showing up even when it’s hard.

5. Eat to Fuel, Not Just Comfort

As it gets colder and darker, cravings for comfort food can spike. Keep nourishing your body with balanced meals full of protein, colorful veggies, and whole foods. Staying fueled well supports your energy, mood, and recovery.

6. Give Yourself Grace

The time change can affect everyone differently. If you feel sluggish or out of sorts, that’s normal. Be patient with yourself, and remember that consistency, not perfection, is what keeps you strong.

Let’s Tackle the Season Together

One of the best parts of CrossFit Reincarnation is that you’re not doing this alone. Whether you’re adjusting to darker evenings, finding new motivation, or just trying to get your rhythm back, we’re here for you.

Keep showing up. Keep moving. Keep taking care of yourself.

You’ve got this. 💪
