“I eat really healthy.”
“I’m pretty good with my nutrition.”
“Yes, I eat my vegetables.”
As coaches, we hear these answers all the time.
And we want to believe them.
But here’s the truth: your body always tells the real story.
Not because we’re trying to catch anyone doing something wrong.
Not because we want to lecture anyone about cookies.
But because we see what happens inside the gym every day.
Your recovery.
Your energy levels.
Your strength progress.
Your ability to build muscle.
All of those things tell us more about your nutrition than the words you say.
And that’s not a bad thing.
It’s actually an opportunity.
The Body Doesn’t Lie
When someone is fueling their body well, we tend to see certain patterns:
They recover faster between workouts.
Their strength improves steadily.
They build muscle.
They have more energy during class.
They aren’t completely exhausted all the time.
When nutrition is lacking, we see different patterns:
Workouts feel harder than they should.
Recovery takes days.
Strength stalls or declines.
Muscle doesn’t develop.
Energy levels stay low.
And when we ask about nutrition, the response is often:
“I eat pretty healthy.”
But “pretty healthy” can mean a lot of different things.
Sometimes it means:
- Not eating enough protein
- Skipping meals during busy days
- Very few vegetables
- Grabbing whatever is convenient
- Fueling mostly with snacks and quick foods
None of this makes someone a bad person.
It just means their body doesn’t have the fuel it needs to adapt to training.
You Can’t Out-Train Poor Fuel
One of the biggest misconceptions we see is the belief that workouts alone create results.
Workouts create the stimulus.
Nutrition provides the materials to build the result.
Think of it like building a house.
Your workouts are the construction crew.
Your nutrition is the lumber, nails, and concrete.
Without those materials, the crew shows up ready to work… but nothing gets built.
This Isn’t About Being Perfect
Let’s be clear about something.
This conversation is not about perfection.
At CrossFit Reincarnation, we are not the food police.
People eat cookies.
People celebrate birthdays.
People grab pizza sometimes.
That’s life.
The issue isn’t the occasional treat.
The issue is when someone believes they’re fueling their body well when they’re actually under-fueling or missing key nutrients entirely.
That’s when progress stalls and frustration grows.
Why Honesty Matters
The fastest way to improve results is simple:
Honesty.
Honesty with your coach.
But even more importantly…
Honesty with yourself.
When someone says:
“I actually haven’t been eating enough protein.”
Or
“I realize I skip meals a lot.”
Or
“My vegetables are basically nonexistent.”
That’s not failure.
That’s the moment we can start fixing the problem.
And when we know the real situation, we can help.
Our Job Is to Help You Win
At CrossFit Reincarnation, our goal isn’t just to run workouts.
Our goal is to help people:
Move better.
Feel better.
Get stronger.
Build healthier lives.
Sometimes the biggest breakthrough doesn’t come from a new workout.
It comes from simple changes like:
- Eating more protein
- Adding vegetables to meals
- Drinking more water
- Planning meals ahead of time
Small habits done consistently can change everything.
Progress Happens Faster When We Work Together
The members who progress the fastest are not the ones who are perfect.
They’re the ones who are coach-able and honest.
They’re willing to say:
“I need help with this.”
And when they do, everything starts to improve.
More energy.
Better workouts.
Faster recovery.
Stronger bodies.
And a whole lot less frustration.
So if you ever feel stuck in your progress, the answer might not be more workouts.
It might just start with an honest conversation.
