When the Coach Struggles Too: My Nutrition Story and Why It Matters

Members working out on rowers with coach

I’ve been in the fitness industry for years.
I own a CrossFit gym. I’m a certified nutrition coach. I know what to eat, how to train, and how to build habits that work.

And still—over the past few years, I gained 40 pounds.
Not because I gave up, but because life got loud.

Business. Injuries. Hormones. Life.

The last few years brought a lot: stress, injury, healing, and leadership challenges. I dealt with a back injury. Then a calf tear. And while running a gym, raising a family, and caring for others, I slowly stopped prioritizing myself.

I didn’t fall off the wagon overnight. It was small things: skipping meals, stress eating, grabbing whatever was easy, telling myself I’d “reset” next week.

The weight gain wasn’t the hardest part.
The hardest part was losing the feeling of being strong in my own body.

I’ve Tried It All—And I Know What Works

Like many of you, I’ve cycled through:

  • Strict Paleo (great until it became all or nothing)
  • Low-calorie dieting (wrecked my hormones and my mental health)
  • Shame-based motivation (not effective, not worth it)

Through all of it, I kept learning. And what I’ve learned—what I now coach—is this:
Habits beat hacks. Every time.

When you build solid routines and surround yourself with accountability, progress follows.

Accountability Is the Missing Link

It’s not a knowledge problem. It’s a consistency problem.

I knew what to do. I just didn’t have the structure or support to stay with it consistently while juggling everything else. And that’s what I want to give people through our nutrition program at CrossFit Reincarnation.

We don’t push quick fixes or strict rules. We coach habits, routines, and real-life strategies.
We meet you where you are, and we walk the path with you.

That’s the kind of coaching I believe in. Because that’s the kind of coaching I need, too.

Here’s What I’m Doing Now

  • I got my hormones checked and addressed imbalances
  • I’m back to planning meals and prepping my food
  • I’m moving consistently and fueling intentionally
  • And I’m rebuilding—not just my body, but my confidence

This isn’t a “before and after” story. This is a real life, in-progress one. And it’s proof that it’s never too late to start again.

You Don’t Need to Be Perfect. You Just Need a Plan.

If you’ve been feeling off track, discouraged, or unsure where to start—this is your sign to begin.

Not with a diet.
Not with guilt.
But with the daily habits that build the life you want.

And if you need someone in your corner, I’m here—because I’m living it, too.
