Jake’s Not Playing Bingo; He’s Playing for Strength and Longevity

From Golf Swings to Barbell Pulls

When Jake first walked into CrossFit Reincarnation, he wasn’t alone—his wife Tracey was right by his side. The two started with personal training to improve their health, and quickly found their place in the Golden Hour class. That was over a year ago, and despite his demanding mining schedule, Jake shows up twice a week and sometimes even after a night shift or right before one. If he misses a class, he’s back on Saturday, no excuses.

Jake’s original goals were simple but powerful: improve his strength, restore balance, and support his overall health. Now, those goals have grown. Today, he’s chasing bigger lifts, more muscle, and greater endurance, and he’s making it happen.

Breakfast, Bench Press, and the Best Attitude

Jake is still working full-time and has a few years to go before retirement. Outside the gym, he loves golf, hearty breakfasts, and dinner dates at The Star with Tracey…lobster and steak, of course.

But don’t let the fine dining fool you. In the gym, Jake is a beast. His squats, bench press, and assault bike endurance have drastically improved. He’s conquered mobility limitations, and even with a medical condition and fatigue from medication, his energy has skyrocketed.

And yes, he can now do strict pull-ups. Let that sink in.

Not Here to Play Bingo

Jake brings more than just effort to class, he brings joy. He’s funny, upbeat, and known for cracking jokes during the toughest workouts.

“We’re not here to play bingo!” he’ll say when the team’s catching their breath post-WOD. Or you’ll hear him call out, “When’s the workout?” after everyone just finished one. His humor is as constant as his grit.

Everyone in class loves Jake for it. His positivity is contagious, and he’s quick to lift others up with kind words and compliments…always genuinely proud of his peers’ strength.

Inspiring Everyone Around Him

Jake has not only improved physically; his check-ins with his hematologist are now fewer and farther between. His presence lights up the Golden Hour room. He supports gym charity events. He brags about the gym and his coaches. And most importantly, he works hard, not just for himself, but to inspire everyone around him.

“He’s not playing bingo anymore,” says Coach Alex. “He’s playing Game of Thrones.”

Jake reminds us that it’s never too late to regain your strength, your independence, and your spark. He proves that no matter where you’re starting from or what life throws at you, your best days might still be ahead, if you’re willing to show up and put in the work.
