She Didn’t Even Know What the Open Was

Last year, when we talked about the CrossFit Open, Kelly said something like,
“I don’t even know what that is…”

And that’s where so many people start.

Not confident.
Not experienced.
Not sure if they belong in something like that.

Just showing up.

Over the last year, Kelly has built something most people don’t see right away.

Trust in herself.

Rep by rep, workout by workout, she’s proven, again and again, that she can overcome hard things.

Not perfectly.
Not all at once.
But consistently.

She’s had movements that challenge her. Moments that would be easier to avoid. Days where things didn’t click right away.

And still, she kept showing up.

She kept trying.

She kept choosing to lean in instead of backing away.

So when the Open came around this year, this wasn’t about proving anything to anyone else.

It was simply another opportunity to rise to a challenge she already knew she could face.

And she did.

There were a lot of squats, something that hasn’t always come easy for her.

Moments where it would’ve been tempting to rush through. To just get it done.

But that’s not what she chose.

She slowed down.
She paid attention.
She focused on doing them correctly.

That’s growth.

Not just finishing, but being intentional along the way.

And maybe the most important part of all of this,

She felt safe enough to try.

Safe enough to struggle.
Safe enough to not have it all figured out.
Safe enough to keep going anyway.

That doesn’t happen everywhere.

Kelly, I am so proud of you.

For the work you’ve put in over the last year.
For the way you continue to show up.
For trusting the process, even when it’s hard.

And for proving to yourself, again and again, that you are capable of more than you think.

This is what growth looks like.

Small, consistent acts of courage that add up over time.

And this was just one more moment where you rose to meet it.
